Ariana comes back with a powerful bop showcasing her masterclass vocals with a message about choosing to live in the light. This is her first creative mark since the bombing at her Manchester Arena show last May that killed 22, and she balances pain with the spirit of moving forward perfectly. It’s new but somehow nostalgic. #issabop
“hard rain” – Lykke Li
Transcendent, electric vocal harmonies wash over the steady, mellow beat of “Hard Rain” that will chillax even the hardest of radio listeners. So sad, so sexy? Us too. We’re glad you’re sad Lykke Li. Issa track for love making on a rainy day. #issabop
“Just Wanna Dance” – Spencer Ludwig
Sources say Spencer Ludwig has played Trumpet with a number of bands including Foster the People, Portugal the Man, and Fitz and the Tantrums. There aren’t a lot of modern trumpeters who do pop music out there. Actually, maybe there aren’t any besides this dude, but we haven’t done an exhaustive search. This song is simple and catchy. We dig it. #issabop
“Over My Head” – Echosmith
This one gets your attention immediately. It ties you up and puts you in a bag and just when you’ve gotten Stockholm Syndrome, it throws you over a bridge and right into the middle of the chorus. That’s a good thing because the chorus is catchyyyyy. Sure, the song is mostly chorus, but if that’s what works, then DRILL IT INTO OUR SKULLS! #issabop
“Aurora” – Kidnap
Sometimes a lack of vocals is your best friend. This dude Kidnap probably had plenty of people around him going “lemme lay a sick vocal on that, bruh!” but he wisely declined. If the movie “Drive” had a wacky, molly-loving best friend character in it, it would be this song. This melody loses you for a bit in the middle when it kind of goes into space but it’s funky. #issabop
“No” – Alison Wonderland
Yes. #issabop
“she ready” – Lil Yachty ft. PnB Rock
Lil Yachty is so pure and trippy, how can ya not like him? Also, a song named after Tiffany Haddish’s catchphrase is welcome in our house anytime. (Just take your shoes off before you come in). #issabop
“Shake Something” – Louis The Child ft. Joey Purp
Hip-Hop has always been pretty blazed, and since the advent of legalized weed, even more so. So why not just open recording studios in weed stores? Save the car trip across town. This song is dope. Literally. #issabop
“Emerald Rush” – Jon Hopkins
This one reels you in from the jump. It’s like when you wake up in the morning and don’t have anything particular to do, but the sun is shining and your room is just warm enough that you don’t mind getting out of bed before the alarm goes off. Walk down the street and have a bagel with vegan cream cheese? I wouldn’t usually, but today, why not? #issabop
“Dive” – Beach House
Hello Beach House, our old friend! How you been? That’s good. It still ain’t broke? Well, keep on not fixing it then! FYI, the song picks up half way through. #issabop
