“Barbie Tingz” lacks the pop prowess of “Starships” and won’t induce nation-wide ass-popping like “Anaconda,” but instead throws back to her mixtape days rapping hard over a minimal beat — the Barbie branding is back in full-force. She proclaims herself as the rap queen all the new bitches try to copy, but it lacks the tongue-in-cheek playfulness that made Nicki famous and comes across as a defensive attempt to hold onto the thrown. Her punchlines aren’t knockouts and the track lacks a memorable hook. All in all, this sounds like a second-rate version of her 2014 genius one-off “Boss Ass Bitch.” #issaight
